Nestor is a wine born from Žilavka variety, which the ancestors of Radenković family spotted while traveling through Herzegovina. Fascinated by the potent variety growing in Herzegovinian karst, they brought grape vine cuttings in horse saddlebags, which they then grafted and planted on the white, sandy mineral base of the volcanic tuff of the magical Varina back in 1931. Old vineyard without so-called backrest with this župa-plant is still well kept and gives grapes from which potent wines are produced. Wines with an intense and strong body, rich in extract and with rarely less than 13.5% of alcohol, exactly as much as this wine has. The aromas of this wine, although varietal, tickle with the distinction of the locality, which we will, instead of describing, let you discover yourself. This wine bears the name after the vineyard, a name domesticated in the Byzantine Empire and also recognized as an old Serbian name. It originates from Hellenic mythology’s wise and long-lived King Nestor, and for our folk is the synonym for a wise old man, which this vineyard in a way certainly is.
